Have your say on National Grid’s Eastern Green Link 3 and 4 connection projects

Pylons

National Grid has opened a consultation on the Eastern Green Link 3 and 4 connection projects, connecting Scotland and England. Find out how you can have your say.

The onshore section of the proposed project aims to construct approximately 100 kilometres of underground HVDC cables, as well as three new converter stations, a direct current switching station, and a new substation in the Walpole area.

This project is part of National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade, and aims to connect electricity produced offshore in Scotland with homes in the Midlands and South of England.

The NFU will be submitting a comprehensive response to this consultation on behalf of all members affected. In this response, any issues that impact our members that require attention from National Grid will be raised.

The consultation period will run for eight weeks, concluding on 17 June 2024.

The NFU strongly encourages all affected farmers affected by the graduated swathe to actively participate in this consultation.

The NFU also welcomes comments and suggestions that can contribute to our consultation response. We value your input in identifying any significant issues that need to be highlighted. Please use the form below to submit your feedback to us by 10 June 2024.

National Grid opens first non-statutory consultation

This stage represents the early development phase, and National Grid is seeking feedback on its preferred strategic options.

The strategic options include the potential emerging preferred corridor and the graduated swathe, which will outline the route for the project broken down into 8 sections.

To facilitate the consultation process, National Grid will be conducting online webinars that will provide localised sessions for each of the 8 sections.

Each event will be followed by a dedicated question and answer session.

There are also a range of in person public events which you can attend to find out more about the project.

Find out how to sign up for a webinar or event.
