NFU President Meurig Raymond said: “We had a comprehensive discussion around the challenges facing British agriculture and what Tesco can do to mitigate this.
“The retailer was able to give an overview of its agricultural strategy for the future but what we really want to see are sustainable lamb and beef groups that work with processors and farmers as a matter of urgency.
“All four farming unions will also be working with Tesco to establish ways in which it can better promote our fantastic British lamb.”
