Meurig Raymond, President of the NFU, called for supermarkets to do more to back British suppliers. Speaking on Radio 4, he said: " Liquid milk in particular is now cheaper than water. There are very few dairy farmers making any money. Most are haemorrhaging money."

What have we been doing on social media?
We have been targetting supermarket shoppers with a series of adverts showing the impact of milk cuts on British farmers. We've also been promoting British cheese, yoghurt, butter, and milk and explained how shoppers can support British farmers by buying British dairy products.
This has been seen by 700,000 people on Facebook, Twitter and Linked in.
Our farmer members have also written blogs, which have been read on social media by 150,000 people.
