I thought it would be good to write a short blog to introduce myself.

Previous to joining the NFU I worked for Noble Foods, an integrated egg business. I joined Noble after graduating from Harper Adams University in July 2012 as a graduate trainee manager and became an auditor in November 2012. This involved working with producers in Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands.

I was then promoted to regional contract supplies manager in East Anglia and took over full responsibility for the region in January 2015. This involved managing a group of contract producers and being responsible for over half a million laying hens.

I was attracted to the role of poultry adviser for the NFU as it presented an opportunity to progress my career and although I was very happy with my role at Noble Foods I'm keen to widen my horizons and develop further. My new role will enable me to do this, particularly as it covers the entire poultry sector.

I'm very excited to be joining the NFU poultry team and working on behalf of our members to ensure a good future for the industry. I am aware that there are certain challenges we face, however I am positive that with some joined-up thinking and continued progression we will continue to strengthen our sector going forwards.

One thing I am particularly keen on is engaging with members to ensure we are representing their views and I think a key element of this will be communication. Within my role I will aim to promote the various channels we have for informing members of the work we are doing on their behalf.

One thing I've always been a big supporter of is sharing ideas and I believe that we never stop learning. By being open to new ideas we can be more adaptive to change and therefore create a more robust industry.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the near future and working on your behalf going forwards.
