New greening guidance for 2016

Greening guidance for 2016 was published in October 2015. The NFU has clarified the key changes for 2016 in a briefing for members, here. Full greening guidance can be found on the GOV.UK website here.

2016 cross compliance rules

Cross compliance is an important component of BPS. Each scheme year, there are routine inspections on:

  • 1% of claimants who claim BPS
  • 1% of claimants who have a rural development agreement
  • 1% of claimants who keep farmed animals

If you fail to comply, you risk a penalty on your payment. It is therefore important that you familiarise yourself with the rules, and the changes for 2016. Members can read our 2016 cross compliance Q&A here.

The BPS Handbook

The is NFU is consulting with the RPA about the content of the updated manual, which is due to be published online at the end of February with hard copies sent to customers with no online presence.

The RPA has a designated web page for the 2016 Basic Payment Scheme - you'll find the handbook along with guidance on how to claim BPS online using the Rural Payments service. Find out more here.
