Lobbying

The Houses of Parliament

The NFU has had a close working relationship with the Shadow Labour Defra team, and the wider Labour party, for many years. Work is now well underway to engage with the new Labour government to help deliver its missions to boost the nation’s food security, contribute to economic growth and drive environmental benefits.

Labour’s manifesto recognised that food security is national security. To this end, British farmers and growers need agricultural policies that revitalise farm business confidence.

Having met with 378 potential MPs ahead of the new government forming, the NFU is looking forward to building on the strong foundations already laid to engage with Labour ministers and lobby for essential policy solutions on the key issues facing members.
