Apprenticeships Wales: what you need to know

Please note that this guidance is intended to be used for general information purposes only, is not intended to be a definitive guide to the law and cannot be a substitute for independent advice. NFU members can obtain free initial legal and professional advice from NFU CallFirst on 0370 845 8458.

An apprenticeship is a real job with a training programme where individuals earn while they learn; leading to a qualification whilst gaining valuable skills and knowledge in a specific job role. This Business Guide (BG) seeks to provide you with information on what it means to take on an apprentice, the legal obligations upon you and the entitlements of the apprentice.

The law in England about employing apprentices is different.  We have created a separate BG for our members in England ‘Apprenticeships England: what you need to know’.
