The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (the Order) is the main piece of legislation on fire safety.

This was updated in October 2023 and requires all non-domestic premises to produce a written fire risk assessment. This includes places that people work, visit or stay, including workplaces and on-farm holiday accommodation.

This business guide is designed to provide a brief introduction into fire safety. We also recommend you read our separate our separate Business Guide 062 Risk assessments – key advice for farmers and growers, for more information, available at: https://www.nfuonline.com/member-resources/risk-assessments-key-advice-for-farmers-and-growers/ and for more detailed advice and guidance please contact Call First on 0370 845 8458.
