AgriFuture Scholarship Programme terms and conditions

1. Eligible applicants

a. The scholarship programme is open to students that are residents of England and Wales and from a Black, Asian or racially marginalised community which is underrepresented in agriculture.

b. Students must be currently in school Year 9 (aged 14-15 years old) and in an English or Welsh state school or home education setting.

2. Application process

a. Applications to the scholarship programme are free of charge and do not guarantee students a place on the scholarship programme. The NFU will not be responsible for any costs and expenses incurred in the preparation of applications submitted by students for a place on the scholarship programme.

b. Only one application per student is permitted. All applications will be verified and duplicate entries will be removed.

c. In order to apply for the scholarship programme students and their relevant teachers must complete the entry form between the start and closing dates shown below. All entries must be via email to [email protected].

Start date: Thursday 20 February 2025 at 9am
Closing date: Friday 17 May 2025 at 5pm

d. The NFU accepts no responsibility for incorrectly completed, lost or delayed applications. By applying, all students will be deemed to accept these terms and conditions.

e. The scholarship must be entered in each student’s own name. You cannot apply for the scholarship on behalf of anyone else.

3. Selection process

a. Scholarships will be awarded by a panel of judges (the selection panel) using a points based selection criteria

b. Feedback upon your own application may be requested by email to [email protected]. This feedback will relate to only your individual application and will make no reference to other applicants or any scores determined by the selection panel.

4. Successful applicants

a. The successful students will be selected and will be notified by email on Monday 2 June 2025.

b. In the event that a successful student is unable to be contacted within seven days of the notification date, the NFU reserves the right to offer their scholarship to the student with the next highest points score based upon the selection panel’s feedback.

c. All offers of a place on the Scholarship programme will be subject to successful students agreeing to enter into a student contract.

d. The scholarship includes but is not limited to, a residential with the Outward Bound Trust, regular mentorship, work experience days and further careers based learning opportunities.

e. The scholarship also covers reasonable travel costs associated with the above activities.

f. The scholarship is non-transferrable and there is no cash alternative.

5. Data protection

a. In the event of an offer and award to a Student on the scholarship programme, you consent to the NFU and any partners delivering the scholarship programme using your special category data for the purposes of delivering the scholarship programme. You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing [email protected] However, please note that this may result in your offer and/or place on the scholarship programme being withdrawn if we are unable to deliver the scholarship programme without this information.

b. Applicants’ personal data will be collected, held and processed by the NFU (as data controller) for the purpose of administering this scholarship programme. Our online privacy statement explains more about how we use your personal data. Where a student has provided special category data to the NFU, such as ethnicity or health or disability information, we will need your consent to process and use this personal data and information.

6. Legal

a. All students applying to the scholarship programme, agree to by bound by these terms and conditions. The NFU reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or to cancel, withdraw or amend the scholarship programme at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside its control.

b. If any provision of these terms and conditions is held invalid by any law, rule, order or determination of any court of a competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the enforceability of any other provision not held to be invalid.

c. The scholarship programme is governed by English Law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

d. The administrator of the scholarship programme is the National Farmers’ Union (“NFU”), Agriculture House, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, CV8 2TZ.
