Mike said: “There’s more to life than money. The compensation, whatever it may be, will not make up for the work and efforts we’ve put into building this business up since my grandfather started it.
“There’s two more generations after me who are already very keen on farming. This will all disappear.”
The couple’s house which they restored from a derelict condition may be going, but a new dairy unit will stay, causing a further problem.
Mike added: “We built a brand new parlour in 2010 to compliment the herd, but there is a possibility we won’t be able to use it to its potential because we’re losing the acreage. It could become a financial burden.”
“We have so many fond memories here at not only the house, but around the farm too. We’ve had three 21st birthday parties in our front garden. I would’ve hoped we would’ve had a wedding here, but as they’re removing our house my daughter won’t be able to host it here when she does – that in itself is extremely upsetting.”
