The NFU are in favour of the proposed change to include alternative types of documentation, such as invoices, orders and receipts to record the written description of waste instead of Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs).
This alternative approach will reduce the amount of paperwork duplication that is generated from completing and storing WTNs for 2 years. Invoices and receipts will already be generated when waste is transferred. This type of paperwork is already well recognised therefore easy to implement. This alternative method will also help reduce administration costs due to time saved and reduced paperwork storage costs.
Waste transfer notes will be used by the majority of our members and whilst the EDOC (electronic duty of care) system has been introduced this year we feel that many within the agricultural sector will not use the system for some time. This will be due to a variety of reasons including lack of internet access and insufficient access to IT equipment. This is why changes to WTNs will directly impact the farming community.
