Virtual organic farm walk: Challenges of net zero

John Pawsey, chair of the NFU's Organic Forum holding his crop

The NFU Organic Forum is holding a virtual farm walk open to both conventional and organic farmers. Hosted by John Pawsey, chair of the NFU's Organic Forum, the event will focus on net zero.

This event is a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of farming organically and to ask questions about the production system.

The farm walk will focus on ways that you can work towards achieving net zero on farm. Other topics covered will include mechanical weeding, under-sowing leys and the reintroduction of animals onto the farm.

Mr Pawsey is a fourth-generation farmer from Suffolk and is a director of Shimpling Park Farms Limited. The farm is mixed, with 650 hectares of arable land (featuring legumes, cereals and some speciality crops including quinoa) and 1,000 New Zealand Romney breeding ewes. John also farms an additional 980 hectares for neighbouring farmers under farm management contracts - all of which are managed organically.

The event will run on Microsoft Teams 1-3pm on 23 June. If you would like to register, please click here to email the team.
