Copa-Cogeca, the united voice of farmers and agri-cooperatives in the EU, will unveil a series of events on Thursday.
The programme will include press events, farm visits, a cookery brochure and videos presenting new easy to cook recipes from across Europe, as well as Twitter debates, leaflets and videos on what livestock producers are doing to tackle antimicrobial resistance.
Events will take place every month throughout 2016 & 17 across Europe.
NFU livestock board chairman Charles Sercombe, who will be in Brussels for the launch, said: “I’m delighted to be able to take part in the launch of this Europe-wide initiative to promote red meat.
“For my sectors we are encountering extremely challenging times with downward pressure on farmgate prices which is leading to severe lack of profitability within the beef and sheep meat sectors.
“We will continue to call for greater market transparency and promotion initiatives to boost consumption of a great, healthy product. I intend, in my role as chairman of the Copa Working Party for Sheep to help influence this campaign, which must seek to target new markets and consumers with the specific aim to boost returns for hard hit European livestock producers.”
