The NFU’s Back British Farming Day is an annual event aimed at celebrating British farming. Now in its ninth year, activity over the day will highlight to government the importance of agriculture to communities and the economy.
On Wednesday 11 September, the NFU will hold its annual reception in the House of Commons where MPs and Peers will be able to drop in and show their support. As in previous years, we'll be asking MPs to wear our iconic wheatsheaf pin badge during Prime Minister Questions.

Ahead of the day, we'll use social media to share positive messages about British farming. You can help spread the word by:

Public support for British farmers
We know from our recent farmer favourability survey that the British public hold farmers and growers as one of the most favoured and valued professions, second only to nurses.
- 91% said they feel that farming is important to the UK economy.
- 89% of the public feel it is important that Britain has a productive farming industry.
- 85% of people support increasing self-sufficiency in UK food production.
- 87% of people think it is important that trade deals ensure animal welfare standards are the same in countries we import food from as in the UK.
Back British Farming Day will remind the government of the key role agricultural businesses play in delivering growth for the country.
