The NFU and CLA called on farmers to have their say about the River Wye catchment and to respond about how phosphate and diffuse pollution risks are managed on farm.
The questionnaire captured information about steps farmers have already taken and what needs to be done further to help address some of the issues.
“The NFU was keen to hear how the current situation is affecting members’ businesses, what they are doing already and we wanted to ask them about the steps they would be willing to take to reduce phosphate losses within the catchment.
“The results of the survey will be used to help inform our input into the Wye Nutrient Management Plan and demonstrate the agricultural sectors' commitment to continuing to play an important part in improving water quality in the Wye.
“The Wye catchment is home to a wide range of agricultural sectors who are major rural employers and producers of food, while making a significant contribution to the economy, communities and the environment.” Georgie Hyde, NFU West Midlands environment and land use adviser
