Following a number of enquiries from members who have been confused by recent letters from the ICO regarding registration, the NFU would like to provide clarity.
The NFU contacted the ICO this week, which has confirmed that:
- Courtesy letters are currently going out to agricultural businesses registered at Companies House, reminding them there may be a requirement to register.
- Members can phone the ICO Helpline 0303 123 1113 ext. 1700 (if they wish) and ICO will confirm if they sent the letter and explain the registration process.
- There is a scam letter in circulation at the moment from another company (no further details) charging £195. Therefore if you are unsure we recommend you contact the ICO Helpline to confirm.
