Before joining the NFU, Nathan was an agent for the Conservative Party, looking after elections, members, and finance across the majority of the Oxfordshire constituencies. Alongside this, he was the agent for the Thames Valley Police and Crime commissioner, working on the political side of campaigns and policy.
His agricultural career began on local farms in the Vale of White Horse, when he also attended Oxford Brookes studying Politics and International Relations, before moving into agricultural engineering - first at Cannings in Challow before following the Valtra franchise to Lister Wilder, based out of the Wallingford parts department. He also been a district councillor and leader of the opposition on the Vale of White Horse district council.
