The NFU brought together civil servants to learn more about its newly launched Blueprints for Growth.

Intended as a roadmap for government on how they can lay firm foundations for a sustainable and profitable future for agriculture, the NFU’s ‘A Mission for Farming: Our Blueprints for Growth’ details how British farming can contribute to the government's missions.

These foundations will ensure a safe, healthy and affordable supply of British food.

Today saw 47 civil servants from across 7 Whitehall departments welcomed to the NFU’s London office by NFU Director General Terry Jones and Policy Director Andrew Clark to hear more about the blueprints.

Strong working relationship

The event provided civil servants with an opportunity to meet policy leads who are the authors of the blueprints and hear about the 206 policy asks contained within them, and created the basis for constructive discussions for the months ahead.

NFU Director General Terry Jones said: “The blueprints are a culmination of many months of detailed policy work and will prove useful to develop a strong working relationship with civil servants across government departments.

“The event shows our expertise and provides an opportunity to build discussion.”

One leading official in attendance said they “recognised the NFU’s depth of knowledge and value their strategic insight and policy expertise”.
