This year’s event, taking place at Newark Showground on the first day of the show (Wednesday, 20 November) from 9.30am to 12.30pm, is entitled Water – Under Pressure.
We have gathered a speaker panel chaired by NFU Deputy President David Exwood and armed with all the expertise you need to help you make informed decisions on how to manage water on your farm and bolster your business’s resilience.
New venue for 2024
The 2024 environment conference will be in a brand new venue within the showground, moving from the previously used Cedric Ford Pavilion to the Lady Eastwood Centre.
The move will allow attendees easier access to the Midlands Machinery Show’s many attractions and stands, while carrying on the conference’s established features of a compelling speaker line-up and delicious hot meal at lunchtime.
"No more pressing issue"
NFU Midlands regional director, Rob Newbery, is looking forward to welcoming members to the conference and show.
“Our annual environment conference is a key date in the regional calendar and an opportunity for us and members to delve into a topic in greater detail,” he said.
“Our theme this year is water and there can be no more pressing issue in Midlands farming and wider agriculture.
“With the global population set to increase to over 10 billion by 2050, there will be significant and increasing competition for water resources. Water is critical for livestock and crop production.
“British farmers’ ability to maintain and increase efficient, high quality food production is being threatened by growing competition for water, climate change, severe weather events and ageing and inadequate infrastructure.
“Our theme this year is water and there can be no more pressing issue in Midlands farming and wider agriculture."
NFU Midlands regional director Rob Newbery
“Building water resilience is vital to ensure your farm remains capable of producing for the future.”
