Farmers across the South region organised events to mark the Farming Day of Unity.
This was the latest stage in the NFU’s campaign against Government proposals, which mean farms worth more than £1m will be subject to 20% inheritance tax, a move which threatens the future of family farming.
From Aylesbury to Par, members gathered to show their opposition to the Government’s plans and to underline to MPs that the campaign will not stop until the government thinks again.
A great success
The events also provided an opportunity to thank the public for their support and give them the chance to add their names to the #StopTheFamilyFarmTax petition, which already has more than 270,000 signatures.
The day proved to be a great success. People were keen to engage with farmers, with at least one event running out of petition forms, and some MPs also came along to show their support.
Below are just a few of the pictures from the day.
