1. How can I donate farm toys?
If you’re an NFU member, you can donate in one of three ways:
- By post – send your donation directly to NFU HQ using Royal Mail’s collection service. Visit the Royal Mail website, search for the collection service and follow the on-screen instructions, inputting the NFU’s address: NFU, Agriculture House, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh, Kenilworth CV8 2TZ
- In person at Stoneleigh Park – drop off your donation at NFU HQ, Monday–Friday, 9am – 5 pm.
- At a regional collection point – find a volunteer farm near you that is accepting donations. (Details will be made available to members on our website.)
2. What type of toys can I donate?
We are accepting farm-related pre-loved and new toys, ranging from handheld toys to ride-on tractors.
Your donated toys need not be in perfect condition but do need to be clean. Please avoid sending anything that is broken beyond use or has sharp edges or missing essential parts. This is because we will be donating all items to charity, after they have been used in support of the Stop the Family Farm Tax campaign.
What not to donate
To ensure all donations align with the campaign’s theme and are suitable for transportation, please avoid donating:
- Cuddly toys or fabric-based items
- Non-farm-related toys
- Very large or bulky items that would be difficult to transport
- Any toys that are significantly damaged, unsafe, or missing key components
3. Do I need to cover donation costs?
- Option 1: Donate via post – Yes, you will need to cover the cost of posting your donation to us. We ask that members of the public only donate via post. Regional drop-off points are for NFU members only.
- Option 2: Donate at Stoneleigh Park – No, there’s no cost for donating at Stoneleigh Park. Simply drop off your items between 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday.
- Option 3: Donate via region – No, this is free. The NFU will cover the cost of the courier to transport your donation from regional drop-off points, once the donation window closes.
4. How do I know where my nearest regional drop-off point is?
For most donations, the easiest option may be to use the Royal Mail collection service or drop your donation off at a local post office.
If you’d prefer to donate via a regional drop-off point, a full list of locations will be available on our website behind the NFU member login. Please check the advertised drop-off times before visiting to ensure the donation point is open and accepting items.
5. What should I pack my donation in?
Please pack your donations in sturdy bags or boxes to prevent damage during transport. This also ensures they meet courier requirements, allowing us to move donations safely and efficiently across the country.
6. What happens if something is left at a donation point that isn’t a toy donation?
Please only drop off items that meet our donation criteria. While we appreciate all goodwill, this campaign focuses on farm-related preloved and new toys to highlight the impact of farming futures lost.
If an item is left that does not meet the donation guidelines or is rejected by our courier, the NFU will need to arrange disposal at a cost to the campaign. Please help us keep the focus on the cause by ensuring all donations align with the scheme.
7. What are the collection deadlines?
- Donations open: Friday 7 February
- Last day for postal donations: Tuesday 18 February
- Last day for regional drop-off donations: Wednesday 19 February
- Courier collection from farms: Thursday 20 February
- Last day for in-person donations at Stoneleigh Park: Friday 21 February
8. Can the public donate at farm collection points?
No, farm collection points are for NFU members only. Members of the public can donate via post directly to NFU HQ.
9. What happens if donations arrive after the deadline?
Please do not donate items after the collection deadlines above.
We advise all donation points to put up signage on 19 February to indicate that the collection point is closed.
If items are left after the deadline, the NFU will need to arrange an ad hoc collection or disposal at a cost to the campaign. Please help us keep the focus on the cause by ensuring all donations are donated by the timeframes above.
10. How will donations reach their final destination?
- Regional farm donations will be collected on 20 February and transported to NFU HQ.
- All donations will be sent to London for the Conference.
- After the event, remaining donations will be couriered back to Stoneleigh for onward distribution to charitable causes. Our aim is to ensure that every donated toy goes on to bring joy to children and support communities in need.
11. I want to volunteer my farm as a collection point. How do I sign up?
Due to the turnaround of the donation scheme, the deadline to volunteer your farm as a donation point is Thursday 6 February at midnight.
Please complete the volunteer form on our website. Once approved, your farm’s details will be listed for NFU members to view. You will receive confirmation when your location is published, so you know when to start expecting donations.
