Update on new plant health controls on imported products

Since 1 January 2022, new plant health controls on products imported from the EU, Switzerland and Liechtenstein have been in place.

Imports of 'regulated and notifiable' EU produce and cut flowers are required to be pre-notified for plant health purposes.

Information on what produce falls in the regulated and notifiable category can be found on the Defra plant health portal.

Changing IT systems

The IT systems used to facilitate the pre-notification process are changing, transitioning from PEACH to IPAFFS (Import of Plants, Animals, Food and Feed system).

You can now register and submit notifications via IPAFFS.

Please note, if you are submitting a notification for the first time and do not currently have a PEACH account, you must register with IPAFFS now, as from 31 August 2023 you will not have the option to register a new account with PEACH.

To support your transition from PEACH to IPAFFS Defra will be holding weekly 1-hour training sessions.
